L’Orsa Maggiore (coordinate: 10h ; + 55°) è una costellazione dell’emisfero settentrionale, circumpolare fino a latitudine 41°N. Viene anche chiamata Gran Carro.
La costellazione dell’Orsa Maggiore può essere utilizzata per localizzare in cielo la Stella Polare, disegnando una linea tra le stelle Dubhe e Merak, all’estremo del Gran Carro, e prolungandola di cinque volte.
